Sporting News Thiva will host the rally finish

The city of Lamia is already moving to the rhythm of the Historic Acropolis Rally. The shakedown was completed successfully on the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, and the crews are now preparing to battle against the clock. The official start of the Historic Acropolis Rally will take place on the afternoon of Friday, May 22, in the heart of Lamia, a city that this year serves as the center of the event.

Force majeure circumstances compelled the Organizing Committee to change the location of the finish ceremony. After 13 Special Stages, the crews of the Historic Acropolis Rally will finish on Sunday, May 24, in Thebes, in front of the Archaeological Museum of Thebes at 15:35. The prize-giving ceremony for the winners will take place later that same day in the surrounding area of the museum.

The finish of the Historic Acropolis Rally in Thebes gives this year’s event a particularly symbolic character, as the city is one of the most important historical sites in Greece. The Archaeological Museum of Thebes is considered one of the country’s most significant regional museums, housing exhibits that cover the long history of Boeotia, from the Mycenaean era to the Byzantine period. Its modern architecture and surrounding area create a particularly impressive backdrop for the rally finish and awards ceremony. After completing the 13 Special Stages, the crews will arrive in Thebes on Sunday afternoon, where motorsport fans and local residents will have the opportunity to see historic racing cars up close—vehicles that have written their own chapter in rally history.

This year’s event maintains its strong international character, as it is the second round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship for Gravel Cars, attracting 63 entries from Greece and abroad, while also counting toward the Greek Historic Rally Championship.

The Region of Central Greece is one of the main supporters of this year’s Historic Acropolis Rally, actively contributing to the organization and smooth running of the event. Through its support, the region’s unique routes are highlighted and Central Greece is promoted internationally. The contribution of the Regional Unit of Karditsa is also significant, as it actively supports the rally. Through the event, the Karditsa area gains additional exposure, hosting crews and visitors from across Europe who have the opportunity to experience the beauty and hospitality of the region.

The Municipality of Lamia plays a key role in the organization, as Lamia is one of the rally’s main focal points, hosting both the Service Park and the rally headquarters. The Historic Acropolis Rally contributes to promoting the city as a center for major sporting events. At the same time, the Municipality of Sofades actively supports the rally’s presence in its area, strengthening the connection between the local community and motorsport while showcasing the region through a historic event of international prestige.

Valuable assistance is also provided by the Region of Attica and the Regional Unit of Boeotia. In addition to the Municipalities of Lamia and Sofades, the Historic Acropolis Rally is also supported by the Municipality of Athens, the Municipality of Thebes, the Municipality of Tanagra, the Municipality of Livadeia, the Municipality of Amfikleia-Elateia, and the Municipality of Aliartos.

The official media sponsor is Cosmote TV, which in recent years has maintained a strong presence in all major motorsport events in Greece.
